Acquiring Land
Our search for land began in Summer of 2005 when an ad hoc land committee was established to investigate pertinant issues such as:
1) Price of land in the Aurora/Streetsboro area.
2) Futuredevelopment in both communities.
3) Rate of land appreciation.
4) Zoning issues.

The group met with various consultants in the public and private sector for advice.  They reported back to the Governing Board that parcels of land in the 10-20 acre size grouping were rapidly disappearing and that land was appreciating, especially land close to new retail development.  They recommended we take a closer look at land on Page Rd. in Streetsboro, especially one 11 acre parcel that had been for sale for a long time.

The parcel was about the right size, but was very odd-shaped: almost 9 times longer than it was wide, giving it a bowling-alley dimension.  Nevertheless, it was in a great location and covered with beautiful woods.  Further investigation of the adjacent properties revealed that the Shorts Funeral Home just to the south was situated on 18 acres, 13 of which were unused and undeveloped.  The thought occurred to us that if we were able to combine the skinny section with some of those 13 acres, we might have a very attractive combination.

When we approached Mr. Shorts, we found that he might be willing to sell, but that he would prefer to sell all 13 unused acres.  This put us in the position of inquiring about both properties knowing that we would need both for either of them to work.  It made verything more complicated and time-consuming.  We appointed Ben Frampton to be our contact person for both sellers, a choice which proved to be wise.  Ben's honesty and straightforward manner was evident to both owners.  Below you can see a map which shows both the skinny parcel and the dotted line connecting the Shorts property.  Together they make about 24 acres.

Location
You can see Page Rd. on the right side of the picture.  To the north is Frost Rd, just roughly 700 feet to the north.  Delta systems on Frost Rd. owns most of the land on the north.  To the south are two different residences.  Across the street are more residences and a golf course, and to the west is a natural gas pipeline easement and then more undeveloped land.

This location is central to our congregation with easy access to Rt. 43, I-480, and I-80.  Page Rd. is central to alot of the residential development in Streetsboro, and is becoming a major north/south corridor on the east side of Streetsboro and Aurora.  It takes about 7 minutes to drive from Aurora High School to the property.
