Tinker’s Creek Parents,
Well it’s that time of year again. The calendar counts down till school is out, and I’m sure your kids let you know every day. It’s also the time of year that missions trip requirements are coming due. Over the next few weeks we’ll be spending a lot of time together sweating, laughing and eating.
This Wed the memory verse is due. Col 3 :22-24. They can recite it to any of the youth staff this year. These are some good verses talking about our motivation for doing physical labor and work here on earth.
This Saturday we’ll be working on the property, Richard Hirt will be delivering more rock for the parking lot, bright and early, for us to spread. They need to be there by 9am and be picked up at 1:30pm. Everyone needs to bring a lunch, so we can take a break and have a picnic in the picnic area. If you have a shovel and a metal rake they could bring it would help to speed up the process. Our goal is to beautify the front by the road.
A week from this Wed, May 23, the webquest is due. I’ve been passing out the forms they need to complete the last couple of times we’ve met. I’ll have Kim email me a copy and I’ll email you one as well, just incase they forget it. The basic idea is for the students to do research about Habitat for Humanity so they know more about who we’ll be working with this summer.
The last Wed of the month, May 30, is the parent appreciation diner. A great opportunity for your kids to show you how much they love you (of course I’m sure all you moms feel that right now). We have reserved the Roy Smith shelter house at Fred Fuller Park in Kent this year. The students need to be there by 5pm to help cook and setup (let me know if you need to carpool and I’ll let you know who else is in your area). We will have a parent meeting about the missions trip at 6:30pm at the shelter house, with diner from 7pm till 8:30pm. For directions you can click on the link below or google it, there’s a map on the website.
I know that’s a lot of info, let me know if you have any questions or if you know your student won’t be able to make it to something.
Thanks,
Kasey Parmelee
