Subject: January Ski Trip

Tinker’s Creek Parents,

I hope everyone had a great time with family over the holidays. Jamie’s brother and sister are both in town so we spent a lot of time at her parents in Cuyahoga Falls. We read a lot, played a lot of games, (which I lost most of) and watched a good majority of the first season of Alias on DVD. It was fantastic.

Jamie and I are also in the process of buying our first home, which we’re really excited about. It’s pretty close to the church office in Streetsboro, and assuming they don’t discover that I’m really a cold war spy, we will be closing the end of this month.

A quick reminder. Tomorrow night Wed Jan 4 we are starting youth group back up at Defer Intermediate school, in spite of the fact that there is still football on TV. There will be a special treat to get everyone pumped up for the ski trip Jan 16. The full time staff at Camp Carl and I made a funny ski video in Dec for the summer staff Christmas party but I’m going to show it this Wed too.

Also we are making a big change on Sunday mornings. We have out grown our space upstairs and the Seekers Circle ABF has graciously offered us the library. We’re making a few changes to make a better, more comfortable and inviting atmosphere. If your student hasn’t been on a Sunday in a while have them come check it out. We’ll meet for the first time Sunday Jan 8 at 9:00am.

Ski Trip Mon Jan 16: This will be a good old-fashioned Colorado one day trip. (no we’re not going to CO it’s like they do in CO) We’ll meet at the church office at 6:30am and leave for Peek’n’Peak in New York.

Mapquest says 137 miles, 2:19 travel time from the church office. Arrive close to 9:00am get our skis and get on the hill, ski as hard as you can till 4:00 and then pack up and head back to the church office by 7:00pm.

The other info you need.
Beginners: $50 includes all day bunny hill lift ticket, rental and 2 hr lesson.
Cost:                         Adults               Child under 11
Tubing                      $18 for 3 hrs     No child rate
Ski rental                   $23                     $18
Snowboard rental    $28                     $23
Lift ticket                   $44                     $32

Food: eat breakfast before you come. Pack a lunch or buy it on the hill. Pack a dinner to eat in the car, we’re not stopping on the way home.

Parents, if you need an excuse to ski and would be willing to drive let me know and I think I can arrange that. If we get 20+ to go we get a significant discount, but I need to let them know ahead to get those rates, so I need to know as soon as possible. I’m not really counting on that many, but I like surprises. It knocks $14 off each person lift/rental for groups.

Thanks for the gift you gave to Jamie and I over the holidays it will be much appreciated as we move into our new house.

Send me any questions you have.
